A Realistic “Day in the Life” of a Sales Rep

So why did we film a day in the life style video for our sales role? The short answer: We wanted to show, not just tell. When people hear “commercial roofing sales,” it can mean a lot of different things. Some folks picture cold calling or high-pressure tactics. Others might not realize just how collaborative, consultative, and rewarding the role really is. 

In December, we brought a videographer into our Wyoming, Michigan headquarters to spend a full day with our team. The goal: document what a typical day looks like for a Weather Shield sales rep—from initial customer meetings to walking through proposals and signing contracts. 

We staged mock meetings that mirrored real conversations our team has with property managers, commercial investors, and building owners every day. We didn’t script it, and we didn’t coach our employees on what to say. Instead, we just let the cameras roll. Why? Because our team knows their stuff. And when you’re passionate about helping customers protect their roof investment and save on long-term maintenance costs, that naturally comes through. 

What’s different about Weather Shield’s workplace culture?

A lot of companies talk about their “great culture,” but we’d rather just let you see it for yourself. That’s why filming our real employees was so important to us. When you watch the finished video, you’ll see familiar faces who’ve been with us for years, as well as some newer ones who are quickly making their mark. 

Our sales team doesn’t operate in silos. Rather, they work closely with our service technicians, project managers, and office staff to make sure we’re giving clients honest answers and smart solutions. Whether it’s scheduling a roof inspection, responding to an emergency roof repair, or guiding a customer through a Max Life Roof Care plan, everyone is rowing in the same direction. That kind of trust and teamwork is something we’re proud of, and it’s not something you can fake for a camera.
