Our Story
When Weather Shield Roofing Systems™ first started in the industrial roofing business in 1980, we set out with one simple goal: To treat our customer’s roofs as if they were our own.
Most roofing contractors in the industry only care about selling a brand new roof. So, if you have a leak, their normal first response is to “get you a price for a new roof.”
But that doesn’t fit with our philosophy. Instead, we work with business owners, property managers, and facility managers who want to minimize their roofing costs, eliminate unpleasant surprises and interruptions, and gain control over their expenditures. Overall, we give you more roof life for less roof cost. Ultimately, that means taking care of your existing roof by using high-quality products and replacing it only when absolutely necessary. After all, that’s what we would do if it were our roof.
To broaden our reach, in 2019 we acquired another commercial roofing company that had the same values and passion for maximizing roof life as us; Morrow Roofing of Lansing, Michigan. Prior to that, we acquired Goff Roofing which served the Kalamazoo, Michigan area. Now, we offer our commercial roofing services in Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Holland, Kalamazoo, Lansing (Serviced by Morrow Roofing), and the surrounding areas to help maximize the life of commercial roofs throughout Michigan.

Through infrared leak detection equipment and nuclear moisture scanning technology, we’re able to locate and map the hidden causes of commercial flat roof leaks and invisible, wet insulation with incredible accuracy. A lot of materials go into replacing commercial and industrial roofs, and when a new roof is installed perfectly good insulation and other materials are often torn off and thrown away and brand new materials are put in their place. This is not only bad for the environment but bad for our customer’s pocketbook as well.
We believe there’s a better, smarter way to replace a roof. At Weather Shield Roofing Systems™, our Recycle in Place Program allows us to do just that.
By using our infrared and nuclear moisture scanning technology, we’re able to pinpoint exactly what dry and serviceable materials we can reincorporate into the new roof, and which old, wet components really do need to be removed. The good insulation is “Recycled in Place” and reincorporated into the new roofing system. Not only does this make environmental sense, but it makes economic sense as well.
