The Weather Shield Family of Brands
Great Lakes Systems
The Weather Shield Family of Companies
Great Lakes Systems has installed over sixty-million square feet of single-ply commercial, industrial and institutional roofs since 1976. Whether you require expertise in EPDM, TPO or PVC membranes, we’ve got you covered. What’s more, GLS has installed roofs on over 50 LEED certified projects and performed over 20 vegetative roof installations. We limit our partnerships to only the finest manufacturers to insure high quality single-source responsibility. In addition, we install commercial, industrial and institutional roofs that are Factory Mutual approved, offer high-wind warranties and your choice of 10, 15, 20 or even 30-year warranties.
For decades, Great Lakes Systems built a reputation across Michigan for quality commercial roofing and lasting customer relationships. Over the past two years, GLS has been fully integrated into Weather Shield Roofing Systems, operating from the same facility, using the same technology and processes, and supported by the same leadership. We are now transitioning new proposals, warranties, and projects to the Weather Shield Roofing Systems name.
This change reflects how we already work, not a change in who we are. You’ll see the same familiar faces, relationships, and standards for quality and safety—now backed by greater organizational depth, stronger financial resources, expanded capabilities, and a larger team of roofing experts.

Customer FAQs
What is changing?
Weather Shield Roofing Systems becomes the single customer-facing brand for all new opportunities, proposals, warranties, and marketing. Great Lakes Systems has operated as part of Weather Shield for the past two years, this change aligns our name with how we already work.
Why now?
The integration is complete. Our teams work from the same facility, use the same technology and processes, and are supported by the same leadership. Operating under two names has created confusion around contracts, insurance documentation, and paperwork. One name removes that friction and makes it easier to do business with us.
Will I still work with the same people?
Yes. The same project managers, estimators, crews, and points of contact you know today aren’t going anywhere. Your relationships, our local market focus, and our standards for quality, safety, and service all stay exactly the same.
What happens to my existing GLS contract or project in progress?
Nothing changes. Existing contracts continue under their current terms, and projects in progress will be completed as planned. Where appropriate, existing work may continue under the Great Lakes Systems name through completion.
What about my existing GLS warranty?
Your warranty remains valid and will continue to be honored. New warranties will be issued under Weather Shield Roofing Systems, backed by the full resources of the combined organization.
I need GLS-specific documentation: COIs, EMR, insurance, bonding, or pre-qualification records. Who do I ask?
We’ve prepared standard documentation packages for exactly these requests. Contact your estimator or project contact and we’ll provide what you need, including historical GLS records and support for vendor registration updates.
Does this affect pricing, service, or how projects are run?
No. This is a name change, not an operational one. If anything, you gain more: greater organizational depth, enhanced safety and operational capabilities, stronger financial resources, and a broader team of experts behind every project.
We have GLS registered in our vendor or bid platform. What should we do?
We’re updating our records across GC vendor databases, bid invitation platforms, and prequalification systems through the end of 2026. If your system needs updated documentation from us to complete the change, contact us and we’ll provide it directly.
Is the Great Lakes Systems legacy going away?
No. The GLS name, history, and relationships built over decades become part of the Weather Shield story. This transition happened because the integration succeeded and we intend to honor everything that made Great Lakes Systems trusted in the first place.
Who do I contact with questions?
Reach out to your current Weather Shield or GLS contact, they’re the same team. You can also contact us at (616) 243-4040 or info@weathershieldusa.com, or visit https://weathershieldusa.com/great-lakes-systems/ .
